This thought has been hitting my brain like a megatrain for years…
One of the biggest challenges in my work was that I honestly had no clue what my style was. Do I even have one? This thing has bothered me for so long that I couldn’t even begin to describe it.
Okay, so… is there a single word? A phrase? A vibe? A feeling that can wrap all of this up?
Only recently, I thought I figured it out through the perspective of Albert Einstein’s “Theory of Relevance”… but honestly, it actually came from a stranger. And now, I can finally say, proudly, that I know what my style is.
Eureka.
Are you ready?
Here it is: the absolute search for the fairytale aspect in every story, in every script, told through the lens of good old, slightly sexy naïveté.
Yeah, I know.
Now it actually makes sense.
Go ahead, look at the work again, but this time properly. You’ll see it. It’s there. And somehow, it just works. Makes total sense now, right?
Exactly.
Thank you, stranger.
I mean… Mr. Einstein.
On a separate note, I got my BA in Film and TV Editing from the National Academy for Theatre and Film Arts in 2009 (Sofia, Bulgaria). In 2012, I completed the London Film Academy as a Writer & Director (London, UK). My directorial debut is the short film GETTING FAT IN A HEALTHY WAY (2015).
Some of my work has been featured on Nowness, shots, LBB, Directors Notes, AotW, Short of the Week, VOTD, YDA, Campaign Brief Asia, Boyscout, and Lürzer’s Archive.
That’s it, folks.
